“If you go down in the woods today you can be sure of a enchanting surprise....Priors Barn”
Quiet elegance set within woodlands complete with lake, a little
gurgling stream winding through the trees and stunning treetop decking
offering peace and tranquility, broken only by bird song.
On
the southern edge of the Ashdown Forest in the tiny hamlet of Maresfield
lies this unique holiday destination from which to explore the endless
delights of the surrounding area. Glyndebourne, the world famous Opera
House and a variety of National Trust and English Heritage properties
and glorious gardens along with an abundance of outdoor pursuits are
all within easy reach walking, cycling, horse riding and for a
leisurely round of golf, the Championship East Sussex Golf Club is just
up the road. Should you fancy a spot of fishing (permit required) you
may be lucky enough to catch a trout on the River Ouse, reputed to have
the heaviest weight trout on any English river!
Alternatively
the nearby County town of Lewes, offers an assortment of speciality
shops and a direct train service to London for a night out on the town -
when you have had enough country air!
To say Priors Barn is perfect for couples isn’t to imply that it’s small; it’s more to do with feel than floor space.
The
Barn has been creatively and thoughtfully converted to combine
traditional style with modern comfort. Awash with golden oak flooring,
contrasting noir beams and splashes of warm red the open plan interior
is comfortable and inviting with an extremely well equipped kitchen. The
chic double bedroom is a delight with French doors opening onto a cute
patio, ideal for “breakfast ’a deux”, and the sizable en-suite shower
room boasts a double cubicle.
The separate
utility/launder room also provides excellent storage space for
suitcases and of course those muddy walking boots, should it rain!!
And
now for the “pièce de résistance” of Priors Barn - the tree decking.
Suspended above a stream this is the ideal spot for a glass of chilled
wine whilst you barbecue supper, and then enjoy after dinner coffee on a
balmy summer evening.
Truly 4 Star Gold Award Accommodation.
Priors Barn was located in a peaceful location in a quiet lane in
Maresfield. The barn was beautifully presented and equipped to a very
high standard although some of the equipment was, perhaps, too
high-end compared to what would normally be expected. This is of course
reflected in the price and hopefully attracts clients who, like us,
really appreciate the quality. The bed was very comfortable. All in all
a very good experience. - SB England
